The journal Artexégesis, published by the Faculty of Arts at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, invites submissions for its upcoming issues. The journal publishes two issues per year (March and August). It accepts contributions in Spanish, Portuguese, and English.

Artexégesis is a digital, inter- and transdisciplinary journal focused on Artistic Practice as Research. Aligned with Open Science principles, it uses an open peer review system where authors’ and reviewers’ identities are known, fostering transparency and constructive dialogue.

Scope

We welcome submissions from artists and theorists across all arts disciplines (visual arts, architecture, dance, design, film, literature, music, painting, performance, photography, poetry, theatre, video art, urban planning, etc.), whether affiliated with academia or not, and at any stage of their research.

We seek contributions that present artistic practice as a form of research, emphasizing processes—methods, reflections, debates—over final aesthetic outcomes. Proposals that engage artistic production in dialogue with theory, critique, and contemporary epistemologies, particularly from Latin American and global perspectives, are especially welcome.

Evaluation Criteria

Submissions are evaluated based on:

  • Conceptual and methodological rigor.
  • Relevance and contribution to the field of artistic research.
  • Clarity in presenting practice as research.

 Format and Submission

We publish academic or expository articles, critical essays, and reviews (books, works, or events relevant to artistic research).
